Ali Raza Abidi quits MQM-P, resigns from NA seat

KARACHI: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) parliamentarian Syed Ali Raza Abidi on Wednesday announced to to quit the party and resign from his National Assembly seat.Abidi made the announcement in a statement on micro-blogging site Twitter.“Ladies n Gentlemen from the Holy land of Karbala, I announce to quit MQMP n resign from NA251 as this is not what I believed in n stood for,” he wrote.Ladies n Gentlemen from the Holy land of Karbala, I announce to quit MQMP n resign from NA251 as this is not what I believed in n stood for.— Syed Ali Raza Abidi (@abidifactor) The development came moments after the MQM-P announced to form a political alliance with the Pak Sarzameern Party and contest the next general elections together.MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar address a joint presser with PSP’s Mustafa Kamal and announced to contest next general elections under “one banner, name, manifesto and electoral symbol.”In December 2016, MQM-P had cancelled the basic membership of Ali Raza Abidi and expelled him from the party for breaching party policy and code of conduct but was later restored.
