ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party alleged on Tuesday that Tariq Fatemi accompanied Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his recent visit to Beijing when in fact, the former Special Assistant to the Prime Minster cannot be seen anywhere in the pictures.¬†Tweets can often be misleading and at other times, false. PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Naeem-ul-Haque claimed on micro-blogging site Twitter that former Special Assistant¬†on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister accompanied Nawaz Sharif on his official visit to Beijing. The picture that has been included in Shireen Mazari’s tweet (which has now been deleted) is from December 2016, when Fatemi was in office and did in fact accompany the premier. However, that may well not be the case since Fatemi was not seen anywhere in the pictures that surfaced online of the official delegation that held talks with the Chinese leadership in Beijing.Tariq Fatemi was sacked after his name was included in the Dawn Leaks inquiry report which placed blame on him and other close aides to the Prime Minister for being involved in the scandal.Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also slammed Shireen Mazari and Naeem-ul-Haque for their ‘seditious and diabolic’ tweets.
