Telemedicine unit inaugurated in Karachi’s public sector hospital

KARACHI: The provincial government has set up first ever telemedicine clinic in a public sector hospital to improve healthcare facilities.Health Secretlocal channel Dr Fazlullah Pechuho inaugurated the telemedicine unit at Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi. Speaking on the occasion he said the telemedicine sites will not only help improve rural healthcare, but also improve quality of care all over the province.Pechuho said with the public-private partnership in health sector, state-of-the-art facilities will be introduced in all government hospitals to provide best medical treatment to patients.Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Zaman Khan said the telemedicine will help provide round-the-clock treatment to children in an efficient and effective manner. This technology will also be utilized for surgery purposes at later stage, he added.He said the center will set an example of how latest technology can be used for providing medical treatment to save the lives of children.The newly inaugurated projected is being supported by a non-governmental organization, Child Life Foundation, working for child healthcare.
